Overview
A herniated (or bulging) disc occurs when the soft inner material of a spinal disc pushes through its outer wall, often irritating a nearby nerve. It can occur in the neck (cervical) or low back (lumbar) and ranges from mild to severe depending on how much the disc is pressing on surrounding structures.
Common Symptoms
- •Radiating arm or leg pain
- •Numbness or tingling
- •Weakness in the affected limb
- •Pain worse with sitting or bending
